Qatar wins two bronze medals at International Physics Olympiads 2026

On 4 August 2026, Qatar's Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced a major scientific achievement as the national team secured two bronze medals at two prestigious international physics competitions.

Student Brings Pride to Qatar

The remarkable achievement was earned by Retesh Vardhan Reddy Kangola from Modern Indian School (DPS Modern Indian School), showcasing Qatar's growing excellence in global scientific competitions.

Bronze Medal at ISPhO 2026

The first bronze medal came at the 4th International Scientific Physics Olympiad (ISPhO 2026), held remotely under the supervision of the Russian Federation from 21 to 30 June 2026.

The competition brought together talented students from around the world, who competed in advanced theoretical and practical physics examinations across multiple disciplines.

Second Bronze Medal at IPhO 2026

Retesh continued his outstanding performance by winning another bronze medal at the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO 2026), held in Bucaramanga, Colombia, from 4 to 12 July 2026.

The event featured nearly 400 students from more than 90 countries, competing in rigorous theoretical and experimental physics challenges.

Intensive Training Behind the Success

The achievement follows a comprehensive training programme supervised by the Physics Department of the Department of Educational Guidance at Qatar's Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in collaboration with international trainers.

The programme focused on:

• Enhancing theoretical and practical physics knowledge

• Preparing students for international scientific competitions
